The Legacy Centre Speaker Series

Please be advised that The Legacy Centre Speaker Series scheduled for April 3rd has been postponed. We are closely monitoring guidelines from the CDC, Governor Lee, and the White House, and join the efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 by doing our part to flatten the curve. To that end, our next Speaker Series will be scheduled at a later date.

For now, to comply with federal mandates and to best serve our members during this season, Life Groups also are put on hold through April 3, 2020. However, TLC members (Life Group members in particular) are encouraged to meet on an informal basis, perhaps one-on-one or in smaller groups for prayer and support as you feel comfortable. Please know these decisions are not made lightly, and we are here to serve you despite these temporary changes. We hope and pray concerns surrounding the Coronavirus are resolved soon, and business will return as usual. But until then, the health and safety of your families and businesses must remain our top priority. Currently, we are awaiting official word about Leadercast Knoxville and exploring different ways to fulfill our mission "to connect generations by growing businesses and serving families." We invite you to connect and to continue doing business together by logging into myTLC, our members-only website (link at the top of the page), and utilizing our members-only directory, watching past Speaker Series videos, and more. We will continue to update you as the situation evolves.

Now, to the heart of the matter...

Please reach out to us if we can help serve you in any way. We are family. So when one of us hurts, we all hurt. Our desire is to come alongside you and encourage you during these uncertain times. Some of you may be over 'it' already. Still, many of you are filled with anxiety and discouragement as we face the uncertainty and mounting challenges to our businesses and wellbeing over the next several weeks. The struggle is real. We feel it too.

Our heart's desire is to remind our TLC family of 3 truths:

  1. God is in control.
Put your trust in the Lord - the One who created every cell in your body and sustains you even now. Take heart, He has overcome the world. He is weaving all of this for your good and His glory. He's got this!

  2. We will get through this together.
This season presents the perfect opportunity to find new ways to connect, grow, and serve one another. Above all, may our actions demonstrate whose we are and point people to Christ's love. Be His hands and feet to your families, friends, employees, customers, and communities as we all navigate this new normal. Practically, what does this look like? Take care of yourself and your loved ones. Check on your neighbors, the sick and elderly. Engage with your community, help meet needs, and be part of the solution.

Do what's necessary... Don't panic, wash your hands, stay home if you're sick, observe social distancing, and share your treasure - the Good News, food, funds, goodwill, and for some, that may even be toilet paper! :)

While you're doing what's necessary, be intentional about caring for the whole person... In other words, don't go stir crazy! Have fun and create memories for a lifetime at home and at work. Play games, spend time reading the Bible as a family, or start a new tradition at work that you'll enjoy for years to come when COVID-19 is only a distant memory.

Perhaps your business can use this "slow time" to innovate, create new products or services, or reimagine how (or for whom) you do business. History is full of moments where innovations were made at critical junctures that vastly improved how we live and work.
(Google what Isaac Newton invented while being forced to stay home during the Great Plague.)

Find new ways to connect with one another and financially support local businesses. We all need community, and in this age of social media we can reach out to our friends and support small businesses like never before.

WE are strong, and WE will rise above this together. Let your light be a beacon to others.

As Christian leaders, our response is critical, and our legacy is being shaped by the decisions we make today. Live your legacy.

  3. Prayer changes things. Let us pray...
Please don't forget to pray... Pray without ceasing. Prayer is not a passive response. We cannot stress that enough. Prayer allows us to partner with God in His divine work. We will win this battle through prayer and God's Word. Please pray for wisdom and discernment for our leaders on a local and national level as they seek the best way to guide us. Pray for healing in our land, physically and spiritually. All things are possible with God. Most importantly, right now, our prayer is that the world - especially our corner of it - will turn its eyes to Jesus during this time. Our hope is in Him yesterday, today, and forevermore.

We pray these verses bring you peace, hope and love right now as you read them aloud and claim God's authority and protection over you and your family, business.

“Do not be afraid—I will save you. I have called you by name—you are mine. When you pass through deep waters, I will be with you; your troubles will not overwhelm you. When you pass through fire, you will not be burned; the hard trials that come will not hurt you. For I am the Lord your God, the holy God of Israel, who saves you. I will give up Egypt to set you free; I will give up Ethiopia and Seba. I will give up whole nations to save your life, because you are precious to me and because I love you and give you honor." - Isaiah 43:1-4

"1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High
will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my place of safety;
he is my God, and I trust him.
For he will rescue you from every trap
and protect you from deadly disease.
He will cover you with his feathers.
He will shelter you with his wings.
His faithful promises are your armor and protection.
Do not be afraid..." Read more of Psalm 91

And finally, God loves you and so do we. Be well, friends!
