The Subject:

Family Accounting Issues: Myth, Reality, Solutions

In family business, expectations should be handled with care especially when it comes to money and accounting. Unfortunately, if a gap exists, problems persist. Dysfunction, stress, disappointment, entitlement, and lack of trust are just some of the problems that can fester into questionable financial decisions among family members.

On Thursday, November 20, Lawhorn CPA Group will seek to help bridge the gap and bring peace to your world of family accounting issues so you can get back to your core values, which most likely does not involve doing your books.

The Experts:

LawhornAfter working in both corporate and public accounting, in 1979, Jeff Lawhorn, CPA, founded Lawhorn & Associates, which is now known as Lawhorn CPA Group, Inc - a second generation full-service accounting firm. His dream was to bridge the gap between big and small business. By automating accounting, Jeff knew he could provide the insightful strategy that is his expertise and has become the foundation for the firm's success. Among peers, he is widely known for leveraging his unique, creative methods to solve difficult accounting matters. Jeff is a graduate of the University of Tennessee. In 2011, Jeff passed the business reins to his son, Jason, who was named President.

Jason LawhornBelieving marketplace longevity hinges on the ability to reinvent self, Jason Lawhorn, CPA.CITP.MAcc, embraces change and strives to soar into the cloud. Like his dad, Jason strives to make higher level accounting accessible to the small business owner. Although he now serves as President of the family firm, Jason was employed by his father’s accounting firm just out of high school. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Master of Accountancy with a focus in technology systems. Already, he has over seventeen years of public accounting experience with eight of those being in management.
