Financial Wisdom Lunch & Learn Series

The Subject:

2017 Tax Reduction Strategies for Your Business

We are excited to host a three-part Financial Wisdom Lunch & Learn Series in March beginning with a focus on tax reduction strategies for your business on Thursday, March 9, at The Legacy Centre with Dauble, Miser, Worthington, LLC.

Reducing taxes in 2017 is at the top of most business owners’ to-do lists. One of the biggest financial decisions business owners make is how to transfer or liquidate highly appreciated assets. Whether an interest in a closely-held business or investment property, the movement of these assets and the tax strategies around them are complex, time consuming, and often, costly.

On March 9th, Jon Dauble and Derek Miser will discuss specifically how business owners can apply a number of tax mitigation strategies to a seldom discussed area of the tax code, USC 453 and 453A. Often overlooked, this method will center on deferring taxes when selling assets, maintaining the ability to depreciate future assets, and using the unrestricted sales proceeds to enhance future investments.

Come prepared to learn how to employ some innovative strategies to reduce taxes and positively impact your company’s bottom line.

The Experts:

DaubleJon A. Dauble is a Partner with Dauble, Miser, Worthington, LLC, in its Evansville, Indiana, office. He has spent 41 years actively advising individuals and family businesses throughout the US. Jon has been a contributor to two family-owned businesses, which were owned separately by his father and uncle. Both experiences instilled in Jon a strong work ethic and put high value on loyalty.

As a Certified Life Underwriter (CLU) and Certified Fund Specialist (CEFS), Jon is committed to delivering the highest standards of service and transparency to our clients. His expertise in evaluating and managing market signals has helped him along with John Worthington, another Partner of the firm, manage one of four funds to a top three finish in the National Association of Active Investment Managers (NAAIM)’s 2016 Annual Shark Tank Competition.

Jon is dedicated and active in several charitable organizations. He has three children, who are all married, and two beautiful grandchildren, with whom he prefers to spend all his free time. As a native of Indiana, Jon is an avid basketball fan and seldom misses a Purdue University game.

MiserDerek A. Miser is a Partner with Dauble, Miser, Worthington, LLC, in its Knoxville, Tennessee, office.  His financial advisory career began in 1997 when he joined Merrill Lynch, now Bank of America Merrill Lynch. While at Merrill Lynch, he coordinated over $500 million in financing for clients throughout the Southeast and analyzed over $3 billion of private family business related transactions during his six years at Merrill Lynch.

Over the past 25 years, Derek has worked with the oldest and largest closely-held businesses in the US. Today, his efforts are focused on building consultative relationships with family businesses and helping them conceive strategic legacy plans. He believes we all need a roadmap that reflects where we want to go in life, and his role is to ensure you avoid the dangers and pitfalls that can impair or even destroy your ability to reach your desired financial destination.

As the firm’s chief financial planner, Derek is focused always on tax reduction, maximizing income, and reducing risk for their clients. He strongly believes, whether they immediately see it or not, all savers wish to grow their money tax-deferred, access their money tax-free, and pass their wealth tax-free to their heirs.

Derek is a devoted father to his beautiful seven-year-old daughter. He is a tremendous music fan and loves attending concerts all over the country. Of course, he bleeds orange and is an enthusiastic supporter of University of Tennessee athletics.

Lunch Provided.
