The Legacy Centre Speaker Series with Mayor Glenn Jacobs

"A Conversation with the Mayor" presented by Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs

Set Apart - Mayor Jacobs

Happy New Year! We’re excited to kick off 2024 with a new series, “Set Apart for His Glory”, at The Legacy Centre Speaker Series featuring Mayor Glenn Jacobs on Thursday, January 11. In 2024, we’re on a mission to challenge you to be set apart for God’s glory – a wild, daring pursuit of real-life holiness at home, at work, and in the community. If you’re all-in with us, that means by year-end, your life, your family, your business, and our city will look different…better…more holy – all for God’s glory! That’s our prayer. Are you in? Let’s do this.

On Thursday, January 11, we are extremely honored to welcome Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs as our special guest speaker! Mayor Jacobs knows what it means to be set apart. Since taking office in 2018, Jacobs has worked hard every day for the brightest future possible for Knox County, and we’re proud to call him our Mayor.

If you know anything about Mayor Jacobs, a business owner and once famously known as “Kane” for more than 20 years, you know his life looked very different before embarking on the political scene. What an interesting life he has lived!

Join us on January 11th as Mayor Jacobs shares his personal and professional journey, life lessons, and how his faith guides his leadership and decisions. He also will discuss his love and plans for Knox County in 2024 and beyond. Since he believes wholeheartedly that Knox County is the best place to live and work and works diligently to make the best even better, we can only imagine his vision for the new year! Mayor Jacobs plans to leave ample time for your questions as well.

Reserve your seat today! Your RSVP is kindly requested by January 8th to reserve your seat and meal.

Note: This is an in-person event with a full breakfast. To help us reserve the appropriate number of seats and food, please ensure your registration is firm. Thank you!

Meet Our Speaker: Mayor Glenn Jacobs

Mayor JacobsMayor Glenn Jacobs took office in September 2018. Since that time, he has worked diligently to tell the rest of the world what he already knows: that Knox County is the best place to live, work, and raise a family. By focusing on jobs, education, and recreation, Mayor Jacobs’ goal is to help make the best even better.

Some of his key projects have been:
  • Read City USA, a collaborative initiative to ensure that all children learn to read early and well, regardless of socioeconomic background.
  • Establishing the Knox County Building Trades Career Academy that will serve both adults who are continuing education in HVAC, masonry, electrical, and carpentry fields and Knox County high school students who don’t currently have access to CTE classes.
  • Launching the Knox County Mayor’s TCAT Scholarship that supports the children of Knox County employees taking classes at Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville.
  • Coordinating the cleanup of the Beaver Creek Water Trail, a first-of-its-kind 44-mile water trail that connects five Knox County communities.
Mayor Jacobs hopes to ensure that Knox County remains committed to creating opportunities for everyone to thrive in an engaged and vibrant community.
